E-mail is hosted at NexLAN includes
built-in Instant AntiSpam as well as multiple layers of AntiVirus protection.
Running in-house on Dell servers running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, your
e-mail is safe, secure, and reliably delivered. We support SMTP and POP3
for your domain and also provide WebMail, allowing access to your e-mail from
any web browser anywhere in the world.
What about spam?
Spam is a universal problem. We will
never claim to have the "silver bullet" for keeping spam out of your Inbox,
because there simply isn't one. We do, however, offer many layers of spam
protection, and because our hosting clients are only businesses, we can offer
processes tailored to meet your unique business needs. Learn more about
our anti-spam options <here>.
You probably know that if you are headed out of the office for an extended period of time and unable
to access your email, you can set a "responder" to manage your Inbox and
automatically respond to incoming messages.
By adjusting a few settings, you can notify senders that you won't be
answering your email immediately.
Choose "Settings" from the top navigation bar,
then choose "Auto Responder" at the left.
On the page that appears, type the message to be sent in the text box at
the top.
Set it and forget it
There are three methods of accessing your NexLAN e-mail: using Outlook, Outlook Express, and WebMail. In addition to the many features
of the two desktop solutions (Outlook and Outlook Express), they also allow you to enter your password once during setup, then forget it completely. As
long as the password is saved on your computer, you shouldn't have to enter it again!
Forgot it?
But what happens when you are in the Bahamas and need to access your WebMail? What if you change or upgrade your machine and need to setup your mail
client again?
As an added layer of security, we at NexLAN cannot retrieve your password. Once we enter it in the mail
server, it appears as a series of asterisks. The good news is that we can reset it in seconds. If you need your password and have been racking your
brain for hours, just give us a call. We'll gladly reset it for you.
Change it yourself It's also good idea to change your password periodically. We are happy to do this for you over the
phone, but you can also do it yourself through the WebMail interface.
In the top WebMail toolbar, click
Settings. Then select Accounts from menu at the left.
Be sure that your account is highlighted in the box on the
left. (It will most likely be the only account listed and will appear in the form of: yourdomain.com/you@yourdomain.com.)
Click Modify directly above your account.
Enter your new password in the boxes on the right and click Save.
Accessing
Your Messages
There are
three basic options for accessing your NexLAN email account: through
Outlook, Outlook Express, and WebMail.
Outlook: Using Outlook to read
and send mail from your desktop takes a little bit of setup.
We are happy to walk you through the process over the phone, but
you can also "be your own expert" with this downloadable
step-by-step
guide, also available from our
website.
Outlook
Express: The process to
set up Outlook Express to send and receive messages from your
NexLAN account is nearly identical to that of Outlook. We've
developed a similar
downloadable
guide, as well as a page on our
website.
WebMail: Did you realize that
if you're vacationing in Jamaica and can get to an Internet Cafe,
you can check your NexLAN email? Our WebMail makes your
messages accessible from anywhere in the world. Visit
http://webmail.nexlan.net
and login with your full email address and
password.
