It's been a tough week to host e-mail...

Dear ISP Clients:

This past week was a tough one to host e-mail.  Spammers from the Netherlands found an exploit in our ISP NewsLine address list and I want to extend my apologies for the two unsolicited stock investment advice e-mails.

We secured the mailing list on Wednesday, but then continued to be hammered by their continued attempts through Thursday.

The good news is all is well, the storm has passed, and hopefully, next week will be a better week.  We appreciate your understanding of the dynamics involved in the e-mail SPAM battles.

I'd also like to say thanks to the numerous people on this NewsLine distribution list, which is predominantly from the local Danville Area, who have called or e-mailed me after seeing the article in last Sunday's Danville Commercial News about my upcoming Boston Marathon.  Those that know me well also know that it was quite a challenge to qualify as they only accept the top 3% of the marathoners in the U.S. and I'm happy to have made it.

Finally, keep your ears peeled for our newest "Hank" radio commercial that starts running next week on WDAN 1490AM and WRHK 94.9FM. We always enjoy injecting some humor into this dry technology business!

Regards,

Kevin E. Stroud

New Virus Comes Disguised as IE 7 Download

If you receive an e-mail asking you to download Internet Explorer 7, Beta 2, delete it.  A new virus disguised as a test version of Microsoft's latest web browser is in circulation and looks very convincing with its polished format.  Click here for full details.

Wi-Fi Signal Spans 60 Miles

Intel has dramatically upped the bar on Wi-Fi distance, claiming to have created a setup that spans 60 miles.  Using "steerable antennas" it is expected to be implemented in rural villages which are not currently wired.  Click here for full details.
